PS5 and Xbox Series X’s GPU Disparities Have Minimal Impact on Development, Invader Studios Co-Founder Says

In a recent interview with GamingBolt, Invader Studios co-founder Michele Giannone shared a number of valuable insights into her upcoming Daymare: 1994 Sandcastleas well as other topics – including the power differences between the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

While Microsoft’s console has a clear lead over Sony’s offerings in the GPU department, Giannone thinks that doesn’t make much of a difference in development. Sure, the Xbox Series X can run cross-platform games at higher resolutions, but the difference isn’t so stark that developers have to lower the ambition and scale to run the game on the PS5.

“Certainly from this point of view Microsoft has the advantage. More power also means having more creative freedom, but we don’t think that’s such a huge difference that it brings significant differences in terms of development, especially when considering cross-platform titles. As far as we are concerned, the development cycle will be the same on both platforms, the biggest differences will be noticed in the optimization phase,” said Giannone.

A plethora of developers share this common sentiment, including black tail developer The Parasight, who we interviewed very recently. As the generation progresses, it’s entirely possible that the differences will start to carry more weight – but as it stands, the PS5 and Xbox Series X are both great pieces of console hardware.
