Press Release: ORBIT SHORT FICTION TO LAUNCH INTERNATIONALLY The Orbit Team November 29, 2011

Orbit announces the international launch of its digital short film publishing program.

Last April, Orbit US launched Orbit Short Fiction, publishing digital editions of original short fiction written by its authors. From 2012, Orbit UK will join the initiative. Stories published under the program will be published simultaneously in the United States, the United Kingdom, and other markets in which its eBooks are regularly distributed.

Anne Clarke, Editorial Director of Orbit (UK) said: “The market for digital short fiction is clearly gaining momentum and I am delighted that we are now able to deliver the stories of our authors available internationally. The success of the program in the United States has been very encouraging, and we very much look forward to working with our authors and colleagues in the United States on this next stage of its development.

Tim Holman, Vice President and Publisher of Orbit (US and UK), said: “From the start, we had hoped to expand the Orbit Short Fiction initiative, and we believe now is the right time to do so. Stories will be available much more widely and through all major e-book retailers, which is good for our authors, for fans, and for the publishing program.

Orbit (UK) is the Science Fiction and Fantasy publisher of Little, Brown Book Group, a leading commercial publisher based in London. Little, Brown Book Group is a division of Hachette UK, the UK’s largest book publisher.
