Genshin Impact Cryo Hypostasis Guide
Where to find Cryogenic Hypostasis
Before fighting this boss, you’ll probably want to know where to find it. The Cryo Hypostasis is located in the snowy Dragonspine region of Mondstadt. It sits between Wyrmrest Valley and the outskirts of the Buried City, on the western side of Dragonspine. Here is the exact location:
How to Overcome Cryogenic Hypostasis
This hypostasis is, once again, similar to those found at Liyue, Mondstadt and Inazuma. This means it has homing projectiles, various elemental attacks, and it will heal when low on health.
For this fight, Pyro users or Electro characters that deal physical damage are the best choices in order to trigger Melt or Superconduct elemental reactions. Melt deals double damage since you’re applying Pyro to Cryo, and Superconduct reduces the target’s physical resistance by 40%.
With these tips in mind, the best Pyro characters for this fight are Hu Tao, Diluc, Klee, Yoimiya, or Yanfei as primary DPS, and even Xiangling as secondary DPS. The best Electro DPS options here are Razor, Beidou, and possibly Keqing depending on how she’s built.
Bennett is a perfect Pyro support here for healing and buffs, while Diona can heal and reduce incoming Cryo damage. Zhongli’s shields are also extremely useful here if you have it. Whatever you do, don’t use Barbara as support here unless you want to be constantly frozen.
Before approaching Cryo Hypostasis, be sure to start the three pillars surrounding the area to keep you warm during the fight and avoid Dragonspine’s Sheer Cold effect. If you’re fighting the Hypostasis elsewhere – like in the Labyrinth Warriors event – it doesn’t matter.
The Cryo Hypostasis will usually attack from a distance. However, when he transforms into a spiky wheel of ice, be prepared to dodge at the last second as he lunges towards you. From afar, the boss will fire homing icicles at you, rain them down from above in a small radius around him, and also spawn them from underground.
All of these telegraphed attacks can be avoided by running towards the hypostasis with the right timing, instead of side to side. Getting close will also allow you to deal damage when he falls to the ground after each attack he makes.
Once you reduce the health of the Cry Hypostasis, it will float in the center of the arena and throw large balls of ice at you. Stand in front of these ice rocks and hold down the attack button while pushing the left stick towards the boss to shoot him.
Hit three to prevent the boss from healing. It may still heal a bit depending on how long you take, but you should be able to fend off the ice and then run to the center of the arena to finish off the hypostasis before it resumes its regular attacks.
