Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 kicks off this weekend

This year’s lineup includes a surprising mix of new and old games organized for charity.

It’s this time again. Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 will be held this weekend, Sunday January 9-15. Throughout the online event, speedrunners from all over will perform shows and compete, raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

If you’re familiar with speedrunning, you’re probably already familiar with Games Done Quick. Speedrunners play 24/7 throughout the week, showing off their skills and jumps while raising money for a good cause. Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 will be held online again, which has surprisingly provided some really cool races, like Beat the saber and the arcade dance game that we recently saw at GDQ.

This year there’s a pretty interesting mix of both new and old games on the record. The show opens with an Any% Featherless series of Nioh 2 of AxelSanGo, and later heads to Death loop and Axiom Verge 2, and even The door of death. These are surprisingly recent games, so it’s exciting to see them already running.

There are, of course, a few more retro tracks at Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 for fans of the classics. Sonic and mega man exhibits are still present, and a bidding war will determine which 3DS version of a Zelda classic-Majora’s Mask Where Ocarina of time-will be presented.

And closing the curtains on AGDQ this year will be an All Bosses Extreme race of Solid metal gear by dlimes13. My personal choices that I will be looking for: the Final Fantasy XIII run and both Kill the arrow and Underworld exhibitions.

You can find the full schedule with days and slots here, automatically adjusted to your time zone. The action will air January 9-15 right here on the GDQ Twitch channel, and you can find donation information and pricing information on the GDQ homepage throughout the event. It’s on for another year of speedruns galore!
